Delete Your Account

Last updated: September 2026

You can delete your Hello Nabu account, and the personal data attached to it, at any time and without contacting us. This page explains how to do it on each platform and what happens to your data afterwards.

1. Delete from the mobile app

In the Hello Nabu app for Android or iOS:

  • Open the app and sign in

  • Open Settings from the menu

  • Scroll down to the Danger Zone section

  • Tap Delete Account, then confirm

Deletion runs immediately and signs you out. It cannot be undone.

2. Delete from the web app

At www.hellonabu.com:

  • Sign in to your account

  • Open Settings from your profile menu

  • Scroll down to the Danger Zone section

  • Select Delete Account, then confirm

3. Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it in your store account before deleting, otherwise the store keeps billing you. If you subscribed on the web, open the Subscription row in your settings to reach the billing portal and cancel there first.

4. What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

  • Your account and profile: name, username, email address, date of birth

  • Your sign-in credential, including the Firebase authentication record

  • Your learning data: progress, completed exercises, vocabulary, learning history

  • Content you created in the app, such as adventures, characters and personal notes

  • Your push notification tokens and notification preferences

  • Your consent records for marketing and analytics

Everything above is deleted from our database in a single operation as soon as you confirm. There is no recovery period and no way for us to restore it.

5. What we keep, and for how long

A small amount of data outlives the account, either because the law requires it or because it is no longer personal data:

  • Personal data is fully deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law

  • Transaction and billing records are kept for up to 10 years, as required by French tax law (Article L123-22 of the Code de commerce)

  • Crash reports and diagnostic data are kept for 90 days

  • AI-generated illustrations are kept as anonymous image files, with every link to your account removed

Section 10 of our Privacy Policy sets out our retention periods in full.

6. If you cannot delete the account yourself

Two kinds of account cannot be deleted from inside the app:

  • Accounts belonging to a company workspace, which your workspace administrator has to release first

  • Administrator accounts

If you have lost access to your account, or it falls into one of the cases above, write to contact@hellonabu.com or dpo@hellonabu.com from the email address you signed up with and ask for deletion. We handle these requests within 30 days.
